Signs of The Times

from Requiem by Dick Turner

/

lyrics

Signs of the times

I watch a cloud drift out of sight
A madman’s screaming at a traffic light
An old TV ‘s laying in the street
A waltz is playing from a balcony
Six dead roses in the gutter
A baby smiles up at its mother
A helicopter flies around
A playing card lays on the ground

Another cloud goes drifting by
An old doll without an eye
A man is leaning on a wall
A boy drops his tennis ball
An ambulance goes speeding past
A street’s covered in broken glass
It’s not raining I hear thunder
It all makes me stop and wonder at the

Signs of the times

A dog is pulling at its leash
A plastic bag’s stuck in a tree
A car leaves an alley way
The park is closing for the day
A pigeon’s in a flower bed
A man is standing on his head
A blue bike without a chain
Another cloud rolls by again
